Welcome note

Tuesday, December 27th, 2005

Welcome to my little experiment. I started this a few times with different domains and titles then later settled for this. Here are a few I went through.

WordPress Theme Directory http://wp-theme-dir.portal5ive.com/

WordPress Theme Gallery http://wp-theme-gal.portal5ive.com/ and http://wptg.portal5ive.com/

Directory didn’t sound right for a blog and Blogging Pro already has a theme gallery, so settled for Portal5ive WordPress Themes since it adds my domain identity in there as well.

I hope the ping services don’t blacklist me for moving too much.

So here it is, another WordPress theme list. Well not exactly, I’ve got a bit more than that and I intend to make it a very comprehensive list with lots of meta information. For example right now I have these links for each theme on availability.

Theme links provided

  • Designer
  • Demo
  • License
  • Download

Browse by categories or tags

You can browse the themes by categories and tags. When you are browsing by tags you can use the relative tags on the side. The plus (’+') is for ‘and’ operation and the pipe(’|') is for ‘or’. If you can’t remember sets just click and see; you’ll get the idea.

I really hope you find this resource useful, keep coming back for more. If you have any feedback or you are a theme designer leave a comment or contact me regarding updating your theme entry.

Simplicity

An elegant design with a split sidebar.

Trimming Categories

Tuesday, December 27th, 2005

I’m ditching the Header and Footer categories. Almost all themes have a header and footer and side bar so its not as high level as columns. If there is no header or footer I’ll use no header and no footer tags.

Also tagging black and white does not work well. Almost everything has black and white. Its better to use tags like minimal, whitespace or dark-background.

Fundamental

From the site:

This theme is meant to take advantage of the entire browser real estate available to it by making the sidebar utilize the remaining width. This makes it an especially interesting theme for blogs which have lots of content in the sidebar that expands horizontally.
